Mosquito Ringtone -The Soundless Ringtone

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mark_Kimathi]Mark Kimathi Mosquito ringtone is the answer to teens who want to receive their text message in class. The mosquito ringtones that have grown in popularity among teens is literally inaudible to most people over the age of 30 years. What is interesting is that what is now the mosquito ringtone was invented to repel teenagers. In a show of ingenuity, the teens have turned against the adults proving to be just as persistently irritating as the insect the ring tone is named after. The mosquito ringtone is a high pitch 17 kilohertz frequency that is clearly audible to humans aged 30 and below. Invented by Howard Stapleton, it was developed as a tool to repel loitering youth that hang around British shops. Infact the actual product is called Mosquito Teen Repeller. This is a nine inch black box that emits this high pitch sound in loud volumes repelling any one that can hear it. And since it’s normally audible only to teens, it doesn’t disturb adults. The invention depends on the natural depreciation of the humans’ ear capability to hear with age. This condition is known as prebycusis or aging ear. It results to gradual loss of hearing. This happens by gradually losing the ability to hear high pitched sounds. To give you an idea, the highest note on the piano is 4 kilohertz. Nearly everyone with functioning ears will hear this sound. At 11 kilohertz adults aged above 50-59yrs cannot hear. At 12 kilohertz we lose the age group above 40-49yrs. Generally adults above 30 years old will not hear sounds above 14 kilohertz. But the ages between 18yrs and 24yrs can clearly hear 16 hertz and beyond. The mosquito ringtone at 17 khz is a perfect ring tone to alert a student of an incoming call or text right in the middle of class. Stapleton, the inventor did not anticipate this use. However after a knock-off was availed online by someone probably from Wales, they ended up releasing what they called the original mosquito ringtone. But teens beware, not all adults are deaf to the mosquito ringtone. Some teachers aged around 30 years are reported to hear the ring tone. What’s interesting is that they do not necessarily hear it as piercingly as the teens. Probably give them a few years and they too will be deaf to the mosquito ringtone; so much for banning cell phone in class. In the meantime do not go for those free mosquito ringtone downloads. Apart from the danger of downloading malware to your computer, you will probably not get 17,000Hertz ring tone. MP3 files which are used to download these ring tones use loosely compressed files unlike WAV. So your phone will not reproduce the pitch. You will end being busted when your phone rings. What is Carbohydrate Net Anyway?

Monday, August 27th, 2007

By Nathan T. Lynch Net carbs are the carbohydrates that can be digested and processed by the body as dietary carbohydrate. Therefore, they directly impact blood sugar. You can determine how many net carbs you are eating by subtracting the grams of fibre, glycerine, and sugar alcohols from the total grams of carbohydrate. Net carbs are the only carbs that you need to count when you are on low-carb diets, such as the Atkins diet. It is important to understand why fibre does not count as a regular carbohydrate. Fibre substance does not break down into sugar, so it does not play a part in the overall sugar load of the carbohydrate. If a slice of bread has 27 total carbohydrate grams and 3 grams of fibre you have a net carbohydrate content of 24 grams (27 g 3 grams = 24 grams). This explains why some high fibre foods will have a more favourable impact on the blood sugar and insulin levels. Only plant foods contain dietary fibre. Fibre has a number of effects on digestion, some beneficial, and some more harmful. One positive effect is that fibre is likely to decelerate the rate of digestion of food. This leads to a more gradual emptying of the food from the stomach into the small intestine. This means that there is less possibility of large quantities of glucose being absorbed quickly from the small intestine into the blood, and therefore a lower chance of an insulin surge. Insulin is the hormone that is released when glucose is absorbed from the small intestine. It is possible that by slowing stomach emptying, fibre helps avoid the situation where the body has to produce large quantities of insulin, as a result of repeated rapid release of glucose into the intestine. In turn this may help protect against diabetes in susceptible people. However, fibre does get in the way with the absorption of some nutrients. For example, up to 5% of the fat in a moderately high fibre diet is not absorbed because of this interference. This may even be a good thing in Australia, given that 63% of men and 47% of women were overweight in 1995, with no sign that these levels of overweight and obesity will decrease. High fibre foods also interfere to some extent with the absorption of some essential minerals and trace elements, but a high fibre diet is also probable to provide you with extra minerals and trace elements, so the effect is not believed to be very significant for normal Western diets. Despite these minor detrimental effects, a high fibre intake is understood to be considerably advantageous on the whole. Low intake of fibre, particularly of the insoluble forms of fibre such as those in bread and other wheat products, is one of the major causes of constipation. Low fibre intakes are also strongly associated with an increased risk of diverticulitis. Although the evidence is less compelling, lack of fibre in the diet may also contribute to the incidence of rectal cancer, haemorrhoids, obesity, appendicitis and ulcerative colitis. High intake of soluble fibres such as the pectin and gums, found in fruits, vegetables, rolled oats, and saponins, found in legumes, is associated with reduced blood cholesterol. High intake of foods of plant origin, all of which contain some fibre, is linked with a reduced threat of heart disease, cancer, and an improved life expectancy. Another benefit, and one that may help with weight control, is the sensation of satiety, that is, a feeling of fullness, which follows a meal plentiful in fibre. It is also true that high fibre foods are almost always low in fat, so a high-fibre diet will usually be a low-fat diet. Are You Losing Fat or Water Weight?

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

By Kathy Burns-Millyard When you start a weight loss program - almost any weight loss program - you almost always lose at least 10 pounds fairly quickly. Sometimes you lose it in mere days, while with others it might take you a couple of weeks to do. Why is it that almost any diet or weight loss program seems to give you this result? Because usually you’re not actually losing the ugly fat you really want to get rid of. Instead you’re simply losing water weight. Some diets cause you to lose this water weight quicker than others. Low carb diets for instance, are great at getting you to drop a quick ten pounds. And believe it or not: Some people can actually lose weight by simply drinking more water. It sounds like an oxymoron doesn’t it? Drink water and you’ll lose water weight! But it’s true. You see, your body tends to hold onto things it thinks it may not get more of very soon. If you deprive it of food for instance, it’ll work extra hard hanging onto the resources from that food because it assumes there may be a long time before more is given to it. The same thing happens with water. When you don’t give your body enough water, it tends to try holding on to what it has in reserve. This way it’s able to supply you with reduced capacity for a longer period of time. You may not operate at full efficiency with this rationed approach - but you’ll live. And that’s what your body is trying to do… just keep you alive. If however, you start giving your body all the water it needs… more than it needs in fact… it will realize there’s plenty of this, and it’ll have no problem shedding the extra. After all, there’s more coming in all the time, right? And that’s a secret to many diets that you don’t see mentioned often. Almost every diet or weight loss plan on the market today starts out by telling you to drink more water. And yes, it is quite true that most people need to have more water throughout the day. But since so many people don’t actually drink enough water to start with… when they do start as part of their new “diet”, their body starts releasing the water it’s been holding in reserve all this time. The result? You see five or ten pounds gone when you step on the scale to weigh yourself! Often your clothes start to feel more comfortable too… because when your body retains water it has a bloated-ness to it. So shedding that extra water helps you to not be bloated anymore. Now, this is an excellent first step to losing weight… but it’s not one that creates a long lasting effect. Once you’ve gotten past that first hurdle of shedding the water weight and losing some of the bloatedness, then you must move on to actually shedding the real problem: Body fat. We’ll cover that in more depth with future articles. 2006, Kathy Burns-Millyard. Are you ready to finally start losing actual fat from your body instead of water weight? Smelling Good: A Few Scent Tips

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

By Topher ZiCornell The Good I was with a group of friends waiting to be seated at a restaurant we thought was pretty nifty. As some nifty places tend to be, this place was a bit loud, so one of the more attractive girls in our bunch leaned in close to me to say something. I have no idea what she was about to say because two words into the sentence she interrupted herself saying, “God! You smell good!” The Bad I was heading for floor 34. The elevator cars that go to that floor skip the first 18 floors. That was a small mercy. The car was packed and almost every button between 18 and 34 was lit up. It was a hot day and there were at least four different overpowering perfumes assailing our nostrils. Everytime the doors opened a refreshing waft of air breathed in, but then the doors closed again trapping us with the scents again. By the time we rounded in on the 30th level there were only a few of us left. The doors opened and one of the other passengers gasped for air as she stepped out of the car. It was only then that I realized to my flushing embarrassment that one of the overpowering, assaultive eau de cologne aromas was from myself. How do you wear perfumes or colognes so that things like The Good happen and things like The Bad don’t? 1) It starts with finding the right perfume for you. Every perfume is different, and every person is different. Not only is it important to find a scent that you like, but also to find one that likes you. A perfume should compliment, rather than mask, your natural aromas. 2) Timing is important. The scents that you notice right when you first put the perfume on are called the Top Notes. These are usually very bright and noticeable, and they fade quickly, within the first hour or so. The strong, chokingly floral scents that bring an elevator full of people to holding their breath are usually caused by the top notes of a perfume. To avoid being a choker try to apply your perfume at least an hour ahead of time. 3) Apply the scent to well-chosen spots. Perfumes are heat activated. The scents that percolate out over time as your body continuously warms the perfume, known as the Heart Notes, are the ones you want people to pleasantly associate with you. They should be a gentle presence which arrives and departs with you. Putting the perfume under several layers of clothing may not allow it to percolate as you were hoping. Try placing small amounts at the openings of your clothing, like just under your collar, your arm sleeves, even your ankles if they are exposed. 4) You could think of the Base Notes as the aftertaste. They are the scents you want to linger in the space you’ve been and tease the subconscious’ of those you have met. We like to look good, and we like to smell good. A well-worn perfume can be like a fine wine; and a badly worn one like that cheap wine Uncle Walter always drinks. How to Write a Successful Personal Ad?

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

By Cenk Butunley After days or months of unsuccessful approaches in bars, pubs, you have decided to search for the love not in the wrong places and decided to look for the one in online dating so you’re one step closer to success by deciding that anyway. There are 3 important factors in online dating that can instantly lead you to success rather than another failure. A solid and stunning personal ad.A genuine picture with a warm smile of yours.Writing effective emails to your matches. But, here we’ll discuss how to write a personal ad, that could make a difference: Always, reveal your age correctly from the start as honesty and trust is the most important factor for a successful online dating relationship.Describe yourself accurately. Doesnt matter what it is the question(height, weight, religion, etc..), give accurate answers. Dont try to draw a perfect profile as nobody wants a perfect date but a genuine date.Be clear about why are you here, what you’re looking for in that dating site.Dont go into to much detail what kind of match you’re looking for too early as you dont want to eliminate matches so early in the game.In your words, try to show your optimistic view of life, sound optimistic in your ad.Don’t stuff your ad with lots of words or a long history of yourself. Remember, you’re not writing a boring CV for a job interview, you’re trying to get the attention of your potential dates. So leave spaces when neccessary.Show your sense of humour with making a joke about yourself. If you have writing skills. Try to write your personal ad like an adventure novel(Dan Brown style if possible) which the other side cannot get enough off but dont finish the story so soon. Leave a page for questions.Leave a question mark about yourself and on the other side, be honest, accurate, funny, serious and most important of all mysterious.Check for your grammar or any other errors before you complete your ad.It’s been researched and proven that in the new millenium, matching success rates are hundred times more in online dating than offline dating. But that does not mean that you’ll be successful nevertheless. Everything good in life needs a bit effort and work. So if you really want to find your other half and build a serious relationship you must care for the candidates and put together a good profile with a shining personal ad and a picture. You care for your potential matches and they will take care of you. Cenk Butunley is the founder of MyBestDate, an Online Dating Service company serving internationally. Energy Healing

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Roberto Bonomi WHAT IS ENERGY HEALING? The laying on of hands, also known as energy healing, energy therapy, bioenergy therapy, biofield therapy and energy work, promotes healing by enhancing the energy flow and correcting disturbances in the human aura that surrounds the body. This improvement of the flow of aura’s energy supports the self-healing capacity of the body. The laying on of hands is an old healing modality that is making its way back into our lives in a revival of ancient understandings. All around the world people is learning how to sense energy, move their energy and they are rediscovering energy healing therapies. The application of energy fields for healing, implies the generation of a magnetic field strong enough to produce changes in the body without harming it, and that field should be refined enough to treat specific illness, because treating the aura with a large frequency spectrum is not enough. Vibrational healing or the laying on of hands can restore people to a state of health and harmony in four planes: physically mentally emotionally and spiritually IS THERE ANY OTHER KIND OF HEALING? No there is not! Everything that exists is energy, so every healing involves energy although most healing methods are only focused on the physical level. Energy healing works over the energetic level of our being, and from there it influences the physical, emotional, mental and the spiritual level. Energy healing is then a holistic healing method, because it addresses the energy of which the body mind and emotions are composed, complementing and supporting the other healing methods. the vibrational healers treat people by using pure energy that affects the energetic system acting as a type of wave-guide to redirect or realign the affected subtle energies. ENERGY HEALING AND ENERGY MEDICINE Energy healing works through the laying on of hands, and is only part of a wider field called Energy Medicine that uses crystals, herbs, sound or mind control. All of them work over vibratory patterns which influence the energetic patters at work in the physiology Some healers like to employ crystals or other tools to produce energy healing, but energy healing if more often produced by the interaction of the healer with the healee in the energetic level. (Excellent references on energy medicine are Richard Gerber’s Vibrational Medicine and James Oschman’s Energy Medicine.) THE HUMAN ENERGY FIELDS The physical body that we see in a mirror is not the only one that we have, we also have an energy field thaT surrounds us named The Aura. The physical body is our most dense expression of energy, and we also have many other bodies sometimes called The subtle bodies There are many different descriptions of our aura, but most of them describe it as having different layers. There are also other important energy centers named The chakras where important exchanges of energy take place and that are also influenced by the energy healing. WHAT SCIENCE SAYS ABOUT THE ENERGY HEALING On the western civilization knowledge is acquired through the “trial and error method” or the “scientific method” but this is not the only way of gaining knowledge or maybe I should say that the “scientific method” only gains knowledge about through the information that our senses provide us, but there are other ways of gaining knowledge that eastern civilization believe to be equally valid. “Scientific method” can only prove what we can perceive through one or more of our five senses (”seeing is believing” we say), but there are those who are able to perceive through higher sense perception But it has also being found that the observer affects the object of observation through the act of observing, so there must be something that happens in some other kind of energy field that our scientific do not accept as real by now. And modern science is making every day discoveries about new healing methods that are consistent with the idea of influencing the human energy field with other energies (sound, heat, etc.) Undoubtedly very few scientists will accept the idea of energy healing, but there are beginning to be some researches that indicate that healing does have an effect. Herewith I will mention only one, but you can read about the others below in the References. A SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENT The following experiment proved that therapists practicing non-contact healing methods are able to induce significant changes in the energy field of blindfolded test subjects. An individual was isolated behind a divider and a conductivity (or Kirlian) image was taken of his finger. The practitioner drew a card on which the word “brighter” was written (he was the only one in the room to see the card), then he proceeded to move his hands around the test subject without touching him, in attempt to make the conductivity image of the test subject brighter Then another image was taken after 3 minutes of attempting to increase conductivity. The for the next three minutes the practitioner moved his hands around the test subject in an attempt to make the conductivity image of the text subject less bright, and another photo was taken. The photos clearly indicated that the practitioner successfully increased the energy when he attempted to do it, and then decreased the brightness of the test subject conductivity without touching him when he was instructed to do so. The brighter and smoother images observed after the experiment not only indicated that the test subject’s energy changed, but also that an effective therapy was administered. NOTE: If you want more information about this experiment you can find it at the CHI Institute: http://www.chiexplorer.com WHAT DOES THE SCIENCE KNOW ABOUT THE HUMAN BODY’S ENERGY FIELDS? These energy fields are quite measurable and there is strong evidence that known biophysical mechanisms can account for the observed phenomena. All of us know that the human body has some electric fields that can be measured with techniques as EMG, EEG and EKG, ant that electrical signals are produced and received by the body. In 1963 at Syracuce University it was also reported the first measurement of the magnetic field of the human heart, and in 1971 a superconducting magnetometer named SQUID was used to measure the magnetic field of the Brain. In 1991 Seto and colleagues measured the magnetic field between the hands of healers and was established to be less than 1% or the hearts magnetic field. And if the heart magnetic field can regulate biological functions it is certainly feasible that the magnetic field coming out from the hands of the healers might also influence biological functions. In 1989 Del Guiudice et al verified the existence of the Josephson junction, a superconducting semiconductor present in the living tissue In 1993 McCraty discovered that the DNA acts as a superconducting magnetic field detector, able through the Hall effect to detect and produce magnetic signals, and to act as a signal amplifier. Thus the modern science has discovered many mechanisms by which it is possible for healers to produce magnetic and electric healing energy to influence the patients. (those who see more information about this matter can read “The Scientific Basis of Energy Medicine” by James L. Oschman, 1998). WHAT DOES THE HEALEE FEEL After an energy healing session, the healee can experience significant and substantial shifts in mind, body and spirit. He can either experience a reduction or elimination of the symptoms, or a sense of love, acceptance and deep letting go. WOULD YOU LIKE TO BECOME A HEALER YOURSELF? If you would like to learn how to help others and become a healer, the CD Como Sanar a Otros can teach you how to do it. Come One, Come All

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Vlady Peters Whom to invite to a wedding is something of a diplomatic relation job. Some people do it in a workman like manner. The groom is asked to provide a list of his preferred guests, with their address and phone number. A similar list is worked out by the bride. If parents are actually going to be involved, the parents of the bride and groom will provide another list of their preferred guests. Eventually the the four lists are reviewed for duplication, at which time the real job begins. Now it is a matter of making sure that while the list is paired down to accommodate a realistic number of guests, it will reflect the real desires of all concerned. While it sounds simple enough, it never is. If, for example, the groom’s side of the family has, and wants to invite three times as many guests as the bride’s side of the family, its a question of shall we have a huge wedding at which most of the guests belong to the grooms side, or shall we have a small wedding which will represent equally each side of the family. This is, of course, when money is no object and the situation only requires the choice to be made clear. Weddings in the early days tended to be much simpler, and often didnt require any invitations as we understand them. Since communities were small, it was inevitable that everyone in the district knew when a marriage was a foot. That being the case, people would not be so foolhardy as to hold a wedding without inviting all their neighbours. They could hardly expect their neighbour to forget the omission when the neighbours daughter married the next year. Even if your neighbours were the type of people you didnt particularly want to cultivate as friends, since travel was not a matter of jump on a plane and be there an hour later, if you didnt have your neighbours over to celebrate with you, youd end up with no guests at all. So, in effect, a wedding in the district was assumed to be the districts wedding, and everyone was automatically invited by virtue of living in the district. There was no formal invitation. People just arrived. And if it trapspired that on the day you found that your guests weren’t as many as you hoped for, you might send your servants out to all the the local establishments and invite perfect strangers to come and have some free beer instead of having to pay for it. The emphasis was not so much on who you invited, but that you used your celebration as a sort of announcement of your good fortune to all and sundry. Have you considered your safety and appropriate use of your new wireless phone? What about damage? We have compiled a list of valuable tips for our wireless clients. Unplug the power cord and charger during lightning storms to avoid electrical shock and/or fire. Ensure that no sharp-edged items such as animals teeth or nails (this means Fido or Fluffy, and not leaving your phone in the wildnerness) come in contact with the cell phone battery. This could result in fire. Do not utilize harsh chemicals to clean your wireless phone. These chemicals include alcohol, benzene, thinners and detergent. This could result in fire. When driving, dont leave your wireless phone or install the hands-free kit near the air bag. If your cellular phone is not installed correctly and the air bag deploys, this could result in personal injury. Do not use your phone with wet hands as this could result in electrical shock to you and serious damage to your cellular phone. Do not throw, heave, drop, shake and inflict any other physical abuse on your wireless phone. This action may damage the circuit board of your cellular phone. Ensure that children do not ingest any part of the cellular phone such as the earphones or the connection part of the wireless phone. This could result in suffocation or asphyxiation. Fishing A Live Worm

Friday, August 17th, 2007

By Trevor Kugler The most popular bait for any type of fish, has to be the worm. Honestly, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind, when someone mentions fishing or fishing bait? That’s right, the good old worm. Whether you use worms or not, worms are the first thing that pops into your mind. Not only that, but when you were a kid, worms are more than likely what you used for bait. Even if you have since become a flea flicker, when you were a kid, worms were more than likely employed as bait. The interesting thing is that many anglers either stop using worms all together or continue to use worms as bait, but just like they did when they were a child. My mentor used to call it “using a worm ball”. You know what I’m talking about, right? Using a fairly large hook, say a size 4 hook, and threading a worm onto the hook. Or simply hooking the worm over and over again, thus creating a worm ball. This is how we all did it as a child fishing for sunfish at the local pond, but were adults now. My mentor began tying and using gang hooks for his worm fishing. What’s a gang hook? A gang hook, or actually a ’set’ of gang hooks, is simply two small hooks tied in tandem. He used to use size 10 hooks, which is what I prefer, but up to size 6 is tolerable. For those of you who don’t know, a size 10 hook is pretty freakin’ small! But, as flea flickers have demonstrated for years, big fish can be caught using small hooks. A set of gang hooks is by far the most natural way to present a worm. Gang hooks literally make worm fishing into a viable way for adults to fish a worm. Worm fishing with gang hooks becomes every bit as ‘technical’ a type of fishing as flea flicking is made out to be. So where do you get these gang hooks? Simple. You can tie them yourself or you can go somewhere like JRWfishing and buy them. The choice is yours. If you want to tie them yourself, it’s fairly easy to learn, just do a little knot research and you’ll be on your way. The bottom line is that gang hooks are the only way to fish a live worm. Using a set of gang hooks the worm appears as natural as if you just throw it in the water. Especially with size 10 gang hooks, the hooks are all but invisible! What do you think this does for the amount of bites you get? And what’s great is that you’ll get more bites from the larger, more wary fish. As we all know small fish have no problem biting a “worm ball”. They don’t know anything about being caught. It’s the larger, more seasoned and wary fish that we’re really interested in, right? I know I am. Gang hooks will help you catch more and larger fish, especially when fishing a live worm. Trevor Kugler is co-founder of JRWfishing.com and an avid angler.
